Gardner Village

We went to Gardner Village this weekend for some Halloween festivities. The girls had their faces painted, their hair was spray painted with color and glitter, they went on a hayride with a witch, and the highlight of the evening was when we watched the annual Witchapalooza show! Greg and I went to the show last year with Mark and Andrea and loved it so this year I thought I would get tickets for the girls and I. During the show the witches and warlocks interact with the crowd and the girls were up dancing in the front of the stage a few times. The witch also grabbed them and took them around the whole room to do the conga and limbo...oh my gosh it was just so much fun. My girls absolutely loved the show! I took about 187 pictures so I will try to not go overboard :)
Here is a little bit more about the Witchapalooza show:
Enjoy an evening of dinner, music and witchy fun as the Witchapalooza Dinner Theater once again returns to The Gathering Place. Take a journey down memory lane with Weston the Warlock as he searches for his one true love. Witches from his past are revisited, complete with live music and colorful costumes from the decades. The sights and sounds will have you dancing in the aisles, the comedy will leave you laughing, and the dinner will satisfy your soul.
A little about Gardner Village from their website:
Gardner Village contains the outlines of the once bustling early Utah mill industry and history. What remains today is a cluster of retail specialty shops located in restored cabins, houses and buildings nestled adjacent to the Gardner Mill. Now listed on the National Historic Register, the old flour mill is home to Archibald's Restaurant and Country Furniture & Gifts.
Vintage pioneer architecture, antique fixtures, red brick paths and bridges over a pond, create a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere for shopping, dining and discovering some of Utah's most colorful history.

The many witches that are set up throughout the Village. Love this!

I love this one. Notice on the next picture the witch inside reading the paper.

Notice the witch in the background hanging over the pond on her bike. This one is always a favorite!

The witches playing baseball are my personal favorite!

This witch lifts up her skirt and you can see a cat chasing a rat.

Andrea, Mason, and Ella...love these guys.

The girls hair after it was spray painted. I loved it how Bella's hair matched with her outfit.

Sophie had a moon with stars on one cheek, and a pumpkin on the other cheek.

Bella decided to get her whole face painted like a witch. Shortly after she was done she realized that the paint was itchy and she didn't like it so much. We later wiped it all off.

This is when she realized that face painting isn't so much fun if your face itches afterwards.

Frankie loved all the flashy colors and sights. She was pretty great the whole time. She was chillen' in her car seat, we took turns holding her, and sometimes she slept. Greg took her home around 5:30 since they couldn't go the show with us.

Hay rides with Lucinda the witch. During the ride she told the kids all about witch's brew and how to make it.

We hung out by the pond for a bit to take a break.

In the background you can see the witch in her boat.

Bella pouting because we wouldn't let them get too close to the edge since we were trying to avoid disaster. We ended up changing our minds and sure enough two second later Sophie slid down the bank and her whole boot went in.

TADPOLES!!!!

I know, you are getting bored...only a few more, I think :)
Little things around the village...

Autograph from Lucinda

We always take the girls into the girly boutique and them pick out a prize. Bella chose a little pocket book on a key chain, and Sophie got some new "dangly" earrings which she was very proud of.

And finally, pictures from WITCHAPALOOZA!!! Ok, this was so much fun. The girls were dancing around the room with the witches and the crowd was awesome!

The girls dancing!

At one point during the show they sang the YMCA and had some guys from the audience come up on the stage. This was seriously the funniest thing I have ever seen. These guys were so into this and at one point I thought the guy second in from the left was going to start stripping. A lady from the audience even came up and put a dollar in his pocket! When they were done singing he did toe touches off the stage. SO FUNNY!!!

The girls with their favorite witch from the show.

OK! I am done. As you can see, we had a fabulous day. If you are in the area you should definitely go take the kids down there for some fun. As for the show, we got our tickets back in August so they might be gone, but it is worth looking in to.

OMG! I can't believe I didn't make the connection.. Andrea-- Her mom works at my office. I knew that but must have forgotten. She is in a few of your pictures-- I love her mom! & I believe-- as long as she hasn't moved-- she lives in a Rainey house-- & Nic works for Rainey homes. Silly me.
I look forward to getting the recipe for apple sauce. Also, I read a few recipes on line that put bottled pears in their apple sauce... Ask your mom if she's ever done that.. Thanks
